Zoma Wallace is an independent curator, art writer, and artist based in her hometown of Washington, DC. Since 2008, Zoma has charted a unique curatorial path serving as the first official curator of the city-owned art collection at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. while also lecturing, consulting, and teaching. She collaborates with artists (often behind the scenes) to:

  • conceive and coordinate public projects and events,

  • curate solo and group exhibitions,

  • write critically about artists’ new bodies of work,

  • and moderate discussions to contextualize artists’ work from previously unthought directions.

Zoma holds a BA from Spelman College, an MFA in painting from Howard University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Art Theory & Philosophy at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA).
