Zoma Wallace is an independent curator, art writer, and artist based in her hometown of Washington, DC. Since 2008, Zoma has charted a unique curatorial path serving as the first official curator of the city-owned art collection at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. while also lecturing, consulting, and teaching. She collaborates with artists (often behind the scenes) to:
conceive and coordinate public projects and events,
curate solo and group exhibitions,
write critically about artists’ new bodies of work,
and moderate discussions to contextualize artists’ work from previously unthought directions.
Zoma holds a BA from Spelman College, an MFA in painting from Howard University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Art Theory & Philosophy at the Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts (IDSVA).
